The staff at Waterford High School vacationed all over the world this summer.
Librarian Mr. Cadorette traveled to Ireland for a couple of weeks in the middle of July.

Mr. Cadoratte traveled to Ireland with his fiance, and he has been there once before.
He went to Cork, the Ring of Kerry, Dingle Peninsula, and Gaeltacht; he found that Ireland has friendly people.
While driving around the country, Mr. Cadoratte explained, “I’ve driven in foreign countries before, I’ve never driven on the left side of the road.”
Mrs. Murphy, the special education teacher, went to Mexico over the summer.
Ms. Murphy went to Mexico City, Mexico with her friends for a wedding. There, she stayed a total of four nights in July.
Besides attending wedding related events to celebrate one of her best friends from high school, she visited a lot of great restaurants where she had amazing Mexican cuisine.
She went to markets and visited the Frida Kahlo museum, which is Frida’s house, called Casa Azul.
During her time in Mexico City she explained it as, “It was like being in New York City.”
Paraprofessional Ms. Ranade vacationed in India this summer.
She traveled there by herself this year, though sometimes she goes with her husband and kids. She saw her family and friends and visited Bangalore.
She stayed there for over a month at the end of June and saw lots of historical monuments, such as the Mysore Palace in Mysore, Karnataka, India
While in India, Ms. Ranade did charity work and received donations to help kids in school and provide them with basic necessities.
Her favorite part was seeing her cousins, brother, sister, and their kids. She happily goes every year.
Paraprofessional Mrs. Colla stayed in Greece for the summer.

She took a ferry boat around Santorini for a couple of hours and rode a gondola up the mountain. She visited a village in Oia where she enjoyed watching the sunsets and taking in the scenery.
She popped in and out of shops; explored the red, black, and white sand beaches; and listened to live music along the village streets.
Mrs. Colla’s favorite part of Greece was the Oia Castles and the beautiful sunsets.
Mrs. Colla mentioned, “In Oia castle, it was great to learn about Santorini’s history and culture”
Spanish teacher Mrs. Cano went on a trip to Brunete, Spain, and stayed for a month during the months of July and August.
She journeyed to Spain alone and is in the process of building an apartment there with her husband. She saw family throughout her vacation.
She visited the north of Spain and went to a town called Puebla de Lillo. Located in the mountains, she hiked and participated in a yoga class.
She celebrated her 32nd wedding anniversary with her husband and went out for dinner to enjoy a nice meal.
When asked about her favorite part of Spain, Mrs. Cano expressed, “I love the weather in this part of the mountains because it is so beautiful.”
Overall, staff at Waterford High School go on vacation for various reasons. Mr Cadorette likes to travel because he likes to learn the history of places around the world. He gives advice to students that “Prepare you can’t know enough about a place before you go. It won’t ruin the surprise and you might learn how to use the subway.”
Mrs Cano said, “I think it is super important to travel as it opens our minds and makes us more tolerant of other cultures, races, and experiences.” She believes that all students should get a chance to study abroad for a semester because it is a chance to experience something different.
Mrs. Colla explains “Traveling is education. Seeing the world provides an education that is absolutely impossible to get in school or anywhere else. Visiting new places can lead to knowledge and understanding, which can help you make the world a better place for future generations.” She loves to travel to see her family and spend quality time with them because she can’t see them back in America.
