Random Student of the Week
December 5, 2014
Starting this week and continuing every week, there will be a different type of article for the student body. From now on, a random student will be interviewed and an article about that student will be published on the Waterford Lancelot homepage.
This week the student is Matthew Patton. Matt is a junior and he is having a blast at Waterford. When he was interviewed, he was in study hall with his friends having a good time.
Matt’s favorite subject is math. He said, “I can just relax and do math, it actually relieves stress for me.” Matt is currently in Algebra 1 Part 2.
Matt is a diver and a swimmer for the high school, though primarily a diver; and during his sophomore year, he participated in track. However, this year Matt plans on trying out for the baseball team, which is pretty exciting.
Matt can excels at pitching in three different ways: over-hand, side-arm and submarine. Submarine pitching is when the pitcher releases the ball underhand, often just above the ground, while his torso is bent at a right angle and his shoulders are tilted severely so that they rotate on a nearly horizontal axis. Matt is going to bring his skills to try-outs in the spring.
When Matt was asked if he had a chance to change anything about the high school, would he and what would it be, he replied, “If I had to change anything about this school, it would be the cafeteria, for the most part.” He elaborated, “Just try to redesign it so we could get a more effective use of the space. It’s not necessarily a small room, it’s that we don’t really know how to use it.”
