Baseball:

Senior Seth Hoagland and sophomore Kevin Johnson each hit three doubles, with Hoagland scoring twice and Johnson driving in three runs as the Lancers blanked Stonington 15-0 in ECC Medium action. Senior Adam Goss and junior Connor Lewis contributed two hits and two RBIs apiece in the offensive onslaught.

The Lancers erupted in the fourth inning, scoring five times to defeat New London 5-1 on Friday. Senior Sam Strout started the rally with a bases loaded single, and senior Tommy Pezzolesi drove in two more with a single. Both would score on passed balls. Adam Goss was the winning pitcher, allowing one run with four strikeouts in 5 ⅔ innings of work. The Lancers are now 4-0 for the year.

The Lancers hot streak would continue in a 1-0 game against South Kingstown (RI) Saturday. Junior Brent Conderino drove home the game’s only run, as junior Thomas Sutera pitched a complete game shutout, yielding just two hits.

Boys’ Lacrosse:

Juniors Billy Barrs and Michael Beltran each scored two goals, and senior Grant Larson added another as the Lancers fell to Stonington 18-5 Tuesday night in ECC Small divisional play. The team is now 0-2 on the season, and 0-1 in the division.

Billy Barrs and Michael Beltran led the assault with five goals apiece in the Lancers 14-4 win over St.Bernard/Wheeler in Thursday’s ECC Small division game. The Lancers won their first game of the season, improving to 1-2 on the season, and 1-1 in the division.

Michael Beltran and senior Grant Larson scored two goals apiece, but it was not enough as the Lancers fell to Old Lyme 10-6 on Saturday. The Lancers are now 1-3 on the year.

Girls’ Lacrosse:

Seniors McKenzie Griffith-Potter and Julia Peay scored two goals apiece as the Lancers fell to Stonington 18-7 in ECC Small divisional play Tuesday night. The Lancers are now 1-2 and 0-1 in the division.

Boys’ Tennis:

The boys’ tennis swept singles play, led by seniors Alan Luner, Shashwat Kala and Benny Dong, and junior Willie Dong, in handing Lyman Memorial their first loss of the season 6-1. The only loss during the match came at No.1 doubles. The Lancers are now 3-0 for the season.

Luner, Kala and the Dong brothers led the charge as the Lancers swept Norwich Free Academy, 7-0 on Wednesday, despite poor court conditions. The Lancers winning streak is now 4-0 for the season.

Girls’ Tennis:

The Lancers continued their winning streak by defeating Lyman Memorial 5-2. All singles matches were swept, led by senior Lexi Moger and juniors Nisha Rajamohan, Lauren Rahr, and Francesca Secor. The Lancers are now 3-0 for the season.

Softball:

The bats came alive for the Lancers in their 25-0 win over New London on Thursday. Sophomore Claire Hurley hammered a grand slam, had five RBIs, and scored four times. Junior Sarah Pacheco had three hits, including a triple, and six RBIs. Junior Jodi Weiss and senior Elaina Sullivan had three RBIs apiece in the onslaught. This was the Lancers first win in defense of their state title.

Sophomore Kazi Walker tossed a five hitter with five strikeouts, but the Lancers fell to Stonington 4-2 on Friday.  Claire Hurley and Jodi Weiss scored the lone runs in the game during the fifth inning. The team’s record is no 1-3.

The Lancers bounced back with a 5-3 win over Norwich Free Academy Saturday. Elaina Sullivan roped an RBI double and Jodi Weiss added an RBI single. Junior Tori VanCleave was credited with the win. The Lancers improve to 2-3 on the season.
