Lancer Nation is something that every student can take pride in being part of. Lancer Nation is a dedicated group of Waterford students with the common goal of school spirit. Lancer Nation stands behind their athletes, no matter what the circumstances. There are a few reasons why Lancer Nation is known as the best student section at games in the state.

Lancer Nation can be found at most school sporting events throughout the school year, but they are primarily known for their dedication in November through March. Blue shirts, blue hats, blue face paint, and rally towels are among some of the items you will see in the student sections at any boy’s basketball home game. Although some games draw larger crowds than others, there has never been a day when the bleachers underneath the huge blue and white Lancer Nation sign were empty.

Lancer Nation has created a vast variety of unique chants. Adam Goss, a senior who is a dedicated member of Lancer Nation, stated, “one of the best parts of the game is when we do the roller coaster after the third quarter.” After every third quarter, members of the Lancer Nation sit on the bleachers and mimic a leader, who pretends to be on a rollercoaster ride.

Senior basketball player Schneider Jean-Pierre said that his favorite chant was a common soccer chant: “ooooh uh oh oh ooooohooooh.”

Usually after someone makes a shot, the whole Lancer Nation sings the soccer chant. Another favorite among the players is the “you cant do that” chant after the opposing team fouls Waterford.

In addition to the chants, students love the unity of of Lancer Nation. Lauren Goldstein, sophomore, explains, “Lancer Nation is great because the students are all together.” Alex Petchark, freshman, also loves to attend games because he is able to sit with friends and cheer on the team.
