Despite his NFL Combine numbers, Waterford and University of Connecticut alumni Zach Hurd did not get drafted in the 2011 NFL Draft last week.
UCONN teammate fullback Anthony Sherman was the first former Husky drafted. THe Arizona Cardinals drafted Sherman in the fifth round.
Linebackers Lawrence Wilson and Greg Lloyd, and running back Jordan Todd were also drafted. Todd will forgo his senior year at UCONN in favor of turning pro.
Signing as a free agent would usually be an option for Hurd, an offensive guard. However, because of the NFL lockout, Hurd and former teammate linebacker Scott Lutrus cannot sign on as free agents.
