Happy National Taco Day
October 4, 2016
Last year, Americans at an estimated 490,000 miles of tacos, which is the equivalent to a trip to the moon and back, or the pound for pound equivalent of two Empire State Buildings (775-million pounds). In simpler terms, Americans ate 4.5 billion tacos. Clearly, tacos are a large part of the American diet.
Being such a large part of our everyday life, October 4th is National Taco Day, this year making for a great reason to celebrate Taco Tuesday. Waterford, like the rest of America, is passionate about tacos.
“My favorite place to get a taco is Moe’s,” said senior Alex Petchark. “They have such a wide variety of food, and you can make it however way you want it.”
Moe’s is a local Tex-Mex chain town, where they will customize your burrito.
“Tacos are great. There is a bunch of different ways to customize them and are a there are many
different places to get them from,” said senior Tessa Dipallina.
It’s true, tacos are a great choice of food if you’re not sure what you want; the options are right there: fish, chicken, beef, even vegan tacos are popular around the country.
Chains such Taco Bell, Moe’s, and local restaurant East Coast Taco will certainly be great places to go today if you’re looking to celebrate this great holiday, and you certainly will not be the only one, because as this video shows, Waterford loves tacos.
