Mrs. Rafferty and Mrs. Baumgartner ran a contest to give the fans of the show Bones a chance to get their names in the show as one of the victims or killers.
Hart Hanson, the creator of the television series, invited them to have a scholarly contest, a thank you to the letter Mrs. Rafferty wrote to him explain the love her students and she have for the show.
“I sent a letter to the producer [Hart Hanson] and he emailed me back saying ‘if you hold a scholarly contest, I’ll put the winner’s name in the show as either a victim or killer,’” said Mrs. Rafferty, “There were 20 questions about the show. If the kids answered them all correct, they got to go onto the final round and had to answer 10 more difficult questions. Whoever got the most of those questions correct won.”
A total of five boys and two girls made it into the second round. Junior Teejay Oullette came out victorious, while sophomore Robert Vose, came in a close second, down by one question.
Mrs. Raffertysaid, “I sent in Teejay’s name and he [Hanson] replied ‘Got it!’ The episode with her name will appear on air this spring.
Not being able to believe she won, dedicated fan Oulette said, “I went home and freaked out about it with my mom. I thought it was neat, I have loved that show since I was 13.”
Vose said , “I wasn’t really shocked that I lost, but I was when I came in second. Teejay deserved to win. She seemed like she was really into the show.”
There will not be another Bones contest next year.
For Oulette, believing she was the best got her further than the rest.
