5 DIY Valentine’s Day Gifts

Looking for something to get for that special someone this year, but don’t want to break your bank? Look no further!

Here is a list of five excellent and easy DIY Valentine’s Day gifts that anyone would love. Feel free to put your own personal spin on any of these gifts. They are ideas, and will be better if they are more personal. Try writing messages or sayings that you and your valentine use with each other.

FRAMEDIY chalkboard photo frames

 

Materials:

  • picture frame
  • chalkboard paint – spray can is easiest
  • fine grade sandpaper
  • white chalk
  • photo or scrapbook paper

Directions:

Step 1: Spray two coats of chalkboard paint onto frames and let dry for 24 hours.

Step 2: Go over frames heavily with fine grade sandpaper to give them a more rustic look.

Step 3: Go over whole frame with a piece of white chalk, and then wipe off.

Step 4: Add photo of your choosing or scrapbook paper with a cute pattern.
BATHDIY bath bombs

Materials:

  • 1 Cups Citric Acid
  • 2 Cups Baking Soda
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 oz shea butter or coconut butter (melted)
  • spray
  • 5-6 drops Essential Oil of Choice
  • 1-2 Drops Red Food Coloring (optional)
  • Spray bottle of Witch Hazel
  • silicone molds in your preferred shape

Directions:

Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, citric acid, and baking soda and be sure to remove all lumps.

Step 2: Add in red food coloring, melted butter, and essential oil, and continue to mix.

Step 3: Using witch hazel in spray bottle, spray the mixture 2-3 times then mix, slowly adding more witch hazel until mix holds shape when pressed together.

Step 4: Press into silicone molds of your preferred shape.

Step 5: Allow to dry in molds for 12 hours. Pop out of mold and then allow an additional 24 hours to harden more.

LEMONDIY lemon candy “pucker up” Valentine’s gift

  • clean Mason jar with lid
  • Your valentine’s favorite lemon or sour candy
  • decorative paper
  • decorative string
  • single hole punch

Directions:

Step 1: Fill a mason jar with your Valentine’s favorite lemon or sour candy.

Step 2: Find a decorative piece of construction or scrapbook paper and write; “Pucker up Valentine” on the paper.

Step 3: Punch a hole in the side of the paper.

Step 4: Run a piece of decorative string through the hole, and tie the paper to the Mason jar.

Step 5: Make a thoughtful card and put it on top of the jar as well.

 

heartcoastersDIY Heart coasters

Materials:

  • Wood log 
  • Miter saw
  • Sand paper
  • Polyurethane Clear Gloss
  • Heart stencil (or your awesome free-hand ability)
  • Paint- two colors: one for heart, one for initials
  • Paintbrush

Directions:

Step 1: Cut wood into 2-inch slices using miter saw.

Step 2: Sand rough edges of the coaster.

Step 3:  Trace a heart on coaster, paint it, and let dry.

Step 4: Coat with polyurethane and let dry.

Step 5: Write your Valentine’s name with paint on coaster and let dry.

Step 6: Coat with another layer of polyurethane to seal.

NAILDIY Sparkly heart nail polish

Materials:

  • Clear nail polish
  • Martha Stewart heart glitter

Directions:

Step 1: Empty half of the clear polish

Step 2: Fill with heart  glitter. Then you’re done!
