‘Moves Like Jagger’ by Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera has spent 17 weeks on Billboard’s Hot 100 List.
The song has held the number one spot on Billboard’s Top 100. The infectious beat, unique yet catchy whistling, and strong vocals from both Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera make the song an instant favorite for many listeners around the world.
The song begins with an interesting whistling beat with an old school guitar playing in the background. Adam Levine then starts the song with the lyrics “Just shoot for the stars if it feels right Then aim for my heart if you feel like” with his captivating voice that has fascinated listeners for about 10 years.
Pop singer Christina Aguilera comes in at a later point in the song and her powerful singing makes the song greater than it already was. ‘Moves Like Jagger’ is obviously a song dedicated to the Rolling Stone’s lead singer Mick Jagger and his eccentric dance moves when he performed onstage.
‘Moves Like Jagger’ first debuted on the show The Voice in June. Since then the song has become, according to Adam Levine, the song of summer. Topping the charts in countries across the world made this song the highest ranking single either artist had created in the last few years. Such an accomplishment resulted in both artists making statements about how they knew the song would be a success from the very beginning.
With ‘Moves Like Jagger’ being played on most of the radio stations nowadays, it’s no surprise that students have been hearing it as well.
When asked about what separated this song from the others that are currently being played on the radio, sophomore Chloe Johnson said “The whistling throughout the song made it different from the others. I liked the lead singer’s voice too.”
Katie Manley, another sophomore, was asked the same question and said “They thought outside the box and went outside the norm.”
During both of their interviews, each mentioned how much they liked the uniqueness of the whistling parts in the song.
The song ‘Moves Like Jagger’ overall received positive reviews that praised the song’s creativity and catchiness.
