By now we’ve all been influenced to buy at least one product from TikTok or another social media platform.
Products promoted by influencers who are typically very well-off financially can be pricey.
It has now been trendy to find knock offs, or “dupes” for viral, expensive products.
So the question is, what viral products are worth the money, and what could you save on?
Starting off with the well known Sol de Janeiro body mists. A 240mL bottle costs $38 and a 90mL bottle costs $25.
While the scents are fresh, summery, and unique, they are on the higher end of price for body mist, typically more inexpensive.
If you were to buy all 3 of Sol de Janeiro’s most popular scents, no. 62, no. 68, and no. 40, it would cost you anywhere from $75-$114, not including tax.
If you stop by Costco or Walmart, you can find the Nutrius Body Mists in a 3-pack. The pack contains “Berry Bliss,” “Coco Bliss,” and “Botanical Bliss,” which all smell almost identical to Sol de Janeiro scents.
When blindly smelling both “Coco Bliss” and Sol de Janeiro no. 62, junior Lacey Montanari says they smelled nearly exactly the same.
The scents last just as long as the Sol de Janeiro, and for a fraction of the price.
Another popular product is the Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops. These are meant to be mixed with daily moisturizer, and they give a tanned glow to the skin, without any sun damage.
These are priced at $39 at Sephora, Ulta Beauty, or the Drunk Elephant website.
The more affordable product that is very similar is the L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Glotion. This product can be applied on its own, or mixed with a moisturizer.
Unlike the Drunk Elephant product, the L’Oreal comes in 4 different shades for a range of skin tones.
The price can vary based on store, ranging from $13.99-$16.99 and can be found in many stores like Walmart, Target, Ulta Beauty, and CVS.
The Lumi Glotion is found to have an arguably smoother and easier to blend texture than the Drunk Elephant.
